IRONMAN COEUR D'ALENE June 24, 2012 | Coeur d'Alene, Idaho

After a great classic car kickoff to summer, athletes and spectators are warming up for the Coeur d’Alene Ironman.

The official race kicks off at 6:25 a.m. with a two-loop swim in Lake Coeur d’Alene totaling 2.4 miles, and with a water temperature of 56 degrees, some may think the early morning time is not the only brisk beginning to the day. The triathlon continues with a 112 mile bike course and ends with a 26.2 mile run.

As in years past, parking will be available through various city lots, along side streets and the North Idaho College Campus.  If you plan on watching the swim start, be sure to give yourself plenty of time as race day consistently causes heavy traffic.
